Football first and in the aftermath of Fabio Capello’s resignation as England manager – the Italian has no regrets about walking out and believes he took the right decision in resigning.

In a meeting with the English FA – Capello apparently wanted John Terry reinstated as captain, or at least felt he was entitled to voice his disapproval that a decision about the team had been taken out of his hands.

For the time being the FA will let the new England manager ensure John Terry's presence does not cause a split in the camp.

Back home in the first day of the S-League – new-boys Harimau Muda or the Young Tigers from Malaysia managed a 2-0 win over Gombak United at the Jalan Besar Stadium last night.

In the night’s other tie Hougang United and Tanjong Pagar battled to a 1-1 draw.

More S-League action this evening as Albirex Niigata will host SAFFC at the Jurong East Stadium; and last season’s runner’s-up Home United play Balestier Khalsa at the Bishan Staidum.

Both games will kick-off at 7:45pm.

The Elephants will return to the same venue on Sunday seeking their second title and will face a Zambia-side who managed a 1-0 win over pre-tournament favourites Ghana in an earlier match.

Closer to home in the Malaysian Super League – The Lions XII escaped with a 1-1 draw at the Bukit Jalil Stadium last night against Selangor.

Shahrill Ishak opened the scoring a minute before the half, and a minute later Selangor’s K. Gurusamy equalized with an unstoppable goal from outside the penalty box.

In other results across the Peninsular and East Malaysia – leaders Kelantan failed to pick up 3 points as they drew 0-0 at Sabah; Perak now overtake Kelantan at the top after a 2-1 home win against Sarawak; Negeri Sembilan defeated the Terengganu T-Team 2-1; Kuala Lumpur lost 1-0 at home to Kedah; 10-men Felda FC escaped with a 1-1 draw at Johor FC; and Terengganu were held to a 1-1 draw at home against Selangor PKNS.

Motorsports first and it may not have been a grand prix, but in a way, the Formula One season started yesterday in Jerez, Spain, with the first testing session of the year.

It was the first time the new cars hit the track, with Lotus’ Kimi Raikkonen returning after two seasons, and turning out to be the strongest and fastest.

Second fastest, in a Force India, was Paul di Resta, while Nico Rosberg was third in a Mercedes.

Football and in the Malaysian Super League – the Lions XII play a tough away game this evening against Selangor at the Bukit Jalil Stadium from 8:45pm.

The tie will be a renewal of a fabled rivalry between two teams looking for a return to their glory days of old where Selangor’s last piece of silverware came when they won the 2010 League title, but they ended last year empty handed.

Football first and in the English Premiership – Manchester United staged a remarkable comeback at Chelsea last night after going down 3-0 to finish 3-3.

The Blues had taken a commanding lead at Stamford Bridge after 51 minutes through Juan Mata, David Luiz and an own goal from Johnny Evans, but two Wayne Rooney penalties and a solid header from Javier Hernandez in the final half-hour saved United the blushes.

In an earlier tie – Newcastle United continued their impressive run at the top with a 2-1 home win against Aston Villa, with Senegal’s Papiss Cisse scoring a stunning debut goal.

Elsewhere in Europe – in the Italian Serie A – Roma thrashed Inter Milan 4-0 at the Stadio Olimpico; whilst leaders Juventus were held by Siena to a goalless draw; and in Spain’s La-Liga it was also goalless between Valencia and Atletico Madrid who are currently chasing a Champions-League spot.

Finally in Basketball – and in the Asean Basketball League – current holders – the Chang Thailand Slammers have snapped the Singapore Slingers’ 4-game winning streak in overtime to win 66 to 56 in Bangkok.

Football first and Manchester United veteran Ryan Giggs believes that the club will be able to mount a serious title challenge if they can come through unscathed from the upcoming fixtures.

United visit Chelsea on Sunday, after which they must tackle Liverpool and Tottenham, with a visit to Norwich in between.

Formula One next and McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh does not believe Sebastian Vettel will repeat his runaway world championship success of last season.

Vettel wrapped up back-to-back titles in October with four grands prix to spare, ultimately becoming the youngest double champion in F1 history by 122 points, virtually the equivalent of five race victories.

The 2012 Formula One season flags off on the 27th of March at the Australian Grand Prix.

We kick off with Football first and in the English Premiership Arsenal's Champions League aspirations were dealt a blow when they were held to a goalless draw by Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok.

Elsewhere Aston Villa came back from 2 goals down to rescue a point against Queens Park Rangers drawing 2-2; Newcastle United moved into 5th spot with a 2-0 away win against Blackburn Rovers; Fulham and West Bromwich Albion played out to a 1-1 draw; and Sunderland continued its impressive run under Martin O'Niell with a comfortable 3-0 win over Norwich City at home.

Elsewhere around Europe - Lionel Messi had a penalty saved as Barcelona drew 1-1 at Valencia in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final at the Mestalla; and in the Serie A - despite the frigid conditions - Inter Milan played out to a thrilling 4-4 draw at home against Palermo.

Back home in the Asean Basketball League - the Singapore Slingers scored a fourth straight win on a special night against the San Miguel Beermen, as the game paid tribute to Cancer Awareness and saw the Slingers, who normally wear White at home, were Pink for this special occasion.

Playing at the Singapore Indoor Stadium - An inspired Don Dulay started the Slingers charge by scoring the team’s first 8 points against their opponents and never looked back to a convincing 71 to 63 win.

Tennis next and in the aftermath of the Australian Open - Novak Djokovic described his record-breaking final victory over Rafael Nadal as the best win of his career.

The Serbian cemented his place at the head of men's tennis with an epic 5-setter into the early hours of Monday and achieved it in five hours and 53 minutes, making it the longest grand slam final in history and the longest match ever at the tournament.

Finally in Motorsports - former Austrian Formula One driver - Gerhard Berger has predicted that Michael Schumacher will retire from the sport for good at the end of the 2012 season.

Schumacher, a seven-time world champion, who first quit the sport in 2006 before making his return two years ago, is entering the final year of his contract with Mercedes GP.

Tennis first and Novak Djokovic overcame Rafael Nadal in five epic sets to retain his Australian Open title in Melbourne.

In one of the greatest matches of all time, the world number one bounced back from 4-2 down in the deciding set to prevail 5-7 6-4 6-2 6-7 7-5 on the Rod Laver Arena.

Golf and England's Robert Rock, overcame a last-hole drama to defeat Rory McIlroy by one and Tiger Woods, Graeme McDowell and Thomas Bjorn by two to win the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

The 117th-ranked Rock shot 70 on the final day for an overall 275.

It's only Rock's second European Tour win in 227 events and his first victory since the Italian Open in June of last year and it now moves him inside the top 60 of the world rankings.

Football next and in the English FA Cup - Robin van Persie netted twice from the penalty spot as Arsenal came from two goals down to beat Aston Villa 3-2 at the Emirates Stadium.

Richard Dunne and Darren Bent had put the visitors in command at the break but the Gunners were turned the game around within 7 second-half minutes.

Arsenal will next face either Middlesbrough or Sunderland who ended drawing their tie 1-all.

Finally in Basketball - The Singapore Slingers climbed up to second on the table in the Asean Basketball League when they thrashed the Bangkok Cobras 73 to 48 yesterday at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Wong Wei Long from the Slingers ended up grabbing 15 points with his teammate Louis Graham contributing another 14 points and 13 rebounds.

The Slingers' next tie is this Wednesday when they host the San Miguel Beermen at the Indoor Stadium from 8pm.

And in other results over the weekend saw the Malaysia Dragons maintain their lead at the top of the table with a high-scoring 97 to 86 game against the Saigon Heat; The Philippine Patriots downed the Indonesian Warriors 86 to 73 at home; and the Slingers' next opponent's The San Miguel Beermen managed a 68 to 59 win against current champions the Chang Thailand Slammers away.

Tennis first and Rafael Nadal fought back after losing the opening set to beat Roger Federer in four sets and reach the Australian Open final.

Federer came out firing but Nadal gradually wore him down to clinch a 6-7 6-2 7-6 6-4 win in three hours and 42 minutes and secure his place in Sunday night's title decider against Novak Djokovic or Andy Murray.

In Women's action - Maria Sharapova avenged her defeat in the Wimbledon final to Petra Kvitova with a gutsy three-set 6-2 3-6 6-4 victory over the Czech to claim a place in tomorrows final against Victoria Azarenka who shattered Kim Clijsters' dream of defending her crown with a 6-4 1-6 6-3 win in two hours and 12 minutes of absorbing tennis.

Golf next and Tiger Woods admitted he had been "fooled" by the greens after failing to convert a number of birdie chances in the first round of the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship.

The 14-time major champion was delighted with his ball-striking after keeping a bogey off his card in a two-under 70, but he was left to rue an erratic performance with the flat stick.

Rory McIlroy, the US Open champion, opened with a five-under 67.

Football first and Liverpool will meet Cardiff City in the final of this season's English Carling Cup after they drew 2-2 at home against Manchester City in their second-leg semi-final clash, winning the tie 3-2 on aggregate.

Former City man Craig Bellamy scored the crucial equalizer 15 minutes from time to send the Reds through to the final at Wembley after 16 years.

In other domestic cup competitions in Europe - Barcelona let a 2-goal lead slip against Real Madrid but still scrapped through the Copa del Rey in a 4-3 aggregate win after drawing 2-2 at the Nou Camp; and in Italy holders Inter Milan have been booted-out of the Coppa Italia when they were beaten 2-0 by Napoli.

In the African Cup of Nations - in Group A pre-tournament favourites Senegal have been eliminated from the competition after co-hosts Equatorial Guinea defeated them 2-1 to advance into the quarters; and overnight group leaders Zambia came back twice to draw with Libya 2-2.

Now more Group action later tonight as Group B leaders Angola play against Sudan and; and The Ivory Coast will do battle with Burkina Faso.

Finally in Tennis and World number one Novak Djokovic struggled his way to victory over David Ferrer last night to keep his Australian Open title defence on track.

Fifth seed Ferrer was a game opponent but lacked the weapons to trouble Djokovic, who ran out a 6-4 7-6 6-1 winner to advance to a clash with Andy Murray in a repeat of last year's final.

Murray on the other hand produced an outstanding display to blow away Kei Nishikori in straight sets 6-3 6-3 6-1 to reach his third successive Australian Open semis.

And in Women's action - Maria Sharapova got the better of Russian compatriot Ekaterina Makarova 6-2 6-3 to advance to a semi-final meeting with Petra Kvitova.

Elsewhere in other Day 4 action - Home favourite Lleyton Hewitt is through to the third round after Andy Roddick quit their contest with a leg injury at 3-6 6-3 6-4; fifth seed David Ferrer was taken the distance against American Ryan Sweeting 6-7 6-2 3-6 6-2 6-3.

And in Ladies action - Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova move through into the next round with a 6-2 2-6 6-4 win over Carla Suarez Navarro; and Serena Williams, a thirteen-time grand slam champion, reached the third round with a 6-0 6-4 win over Barbora Zahlavova Strycova.

Football next and in the Coppa Italia - holders Inter Milan made it through to the quarter-finals of the tournament when they beat Genoa 2-1 at the San Siro.

Maicon and Poli scored for the home-sde after 50 minutes, but Birsa's 91st minute goal was a little too late for Genoa to stage a comeback.

Inter will now face Napoli in the last 8.

And finally in the Copa del Rey in Spain -

Valencia

are virtually through to the semi-finals after thrashing Lavente 4-1 in their first-leg quarter-final tie.

Basketball first and the Singapore Slingers beat the defending champions Thailand Slammers 74-63 to win their first game of the 2012 ASEAN Basketball League season.

The Slingers fell apart in the second quarter as the Slammers outscored them 21-9 and threatened to run away in the third quarter, taking a 14-point, 42-28 lead, but a three-point play by Slingers’ Desmond Oh made it 31-42 and that started a thrilling 16-2 run for the home crowd.

It was a big win for the Slingers, after a disappointing 59 to 79 loss to the visiting Indonesia Warriors last Sunday.

The Slingers next face Vietnam's Saigon Heat away on Wednesday, the 25th of January.

Football next and Defenders Carles Puyol and Eric Abidal were the unlikely goalscorers as Barcelona fought back to beat Real Madrid 2-1 in their Copa del Rey quarter-final first leg at the Bernabeu.

Cristiano Ronaldo had given Jose Murihno's men an early lead but they could not resist Barca's incessant pressure.

In another quarter-final tie - Athletic Bilbao gave themselves a 2-0 advantage over Real Mallorca; the second-legs will be played next Wednesday.

Finally in Tennis and in the Australian Open Day 3 action - Crowd favourite Daniela Hantuchova moved into the third round of the tournament with a hard-fought win.

The no. 21 seed needed two hours and 29 minutes to put away Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko 4-6 6-4 6-3.

And over in Men's singles action - Mardy Fish became the first top ten seed to be eliminated from the men's draw losing to world No.71 Alejandro Falla of

Football first and in the Malaysia Super League - The LionsXII notched their first league victory, beating Kuala Lumpur 2-1 in front of 7,500 fans at the Jalan Besar Stadium last night.

Shahdan Sulaiman was the hero for the Singaporean-outfit scoring the second goal in the 58th minute, that won the tie for the Lions and moves them up to 8th on the table.

The Lions XII next face a tough away task against Sabah at Kota Kinabalu this Saturday.

In other result across the Peninsular and East Malaysia - Felda United managed a 1-0 win against Selangor PB; Sarawak were defeated 1-0 at home by Terengganu; Selangor PKNS drew 0-0 with Kedah; Perak came from a goal down to beat Negeri Sembilan 2-1; and the Terengganu T-Team lost its 100% record after drawing 0-0 with Sabah.

defender Gary Cahill has completed his move to Chelsea.

Bolton accepted an offer from Chelsea for the 26-year-old central defender before the transfer window opened, but protracted contract negotiations delayed the deal.

Chelsea have not revealed the length of the contract.

Back home The Lions XII are in action again this evening at the Jalan Besar Stadium where they take on bottom-of-the-table Kualar Lumpur in the Malaysian Super League.

And in Women's Day 1 action - third seed Victoria Azarenka dropped the opening game to 19-year-old Heather Watson from the UK but then ran through the next 12 to secure a 6-1 6-0 win; and China's Li Na, who became the first Asian player to win a grand slam when she claimed the French Open crown last June, beat Ksenia Pervak of Russia 6-3 6-1.

Football first and Danny Graham struck the winner as Swansea City claimed the first major scalp of their maiden Premier League campaign with a thrilling 3-2 win over Arsenal.

Slingers’ import Louis Graham led The Slingers with 23 points.

Elsewhere in England - Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has sparked a fitness scare ahead of tomorrow's Premier League encounter with Bolton by hinting he has a stomach virus.

Finally Motor-sports and Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali has admitted that world champion Sebastian Vettel is on their radar in the longer term.

The 24-year-old retained the world title in dominant fashion last season, winning a total of 11 grands prix and also breaking Nigel Mansell's record with a total of 15 pole positions.

The last driver to win back-to-back titles was Ferrari's Fernando Alonso when he drove for Renault in 2005/06.

Alonso's current Ferrari contract lasts until 2016 and Domenicali refused to rule out the possibility of Vettel joining him.

Football first and in the Malaysian Super League – The LionsXII slumped to a heart-breaking 2-1 loss to defending champions Kelantan last night at the Jalan Besar Stadium.

A dubious penalty awarded by referee Nafeez Abdul Wahab in the 81st minute allowed Kelantan forward Mohammed Ghaddar to net his team's winner.

The 31-year-old, a finalist in 2003, has not played a competitive match since pulling out of last year's US Open in August after being diagnosed with Sjorgen's Syndrome, an auto-immune disease.Backed by a 7,000-strong crowd – Singapore took a 32nd-minute lead via defender Baihakki Khaizan's header, but only for Norshahrul Idlan Talaha to equalize a minute before the half.

Henry who came off the bench to enhance his Arsenal legend by scoring the elusive goal in the 78th minute, beating the Championship-side at the Emirates Stadium and setting up a 4^th round clash at home against Aston Villa.

It's come down to this - a match to define the ambitions of both Manchester City and Arsenal this season.

City will want a win after their exit from the Champions League and their first defeat of the season in the league at the hands of Chelsea last Monday.

Their opponents tonight - Arsenal have improved quite a bit compared to the start of the season and their key player for now must surely be Robin Van Persie; but this a big test for him.

It starts tonight - Simple :

It will now take 3-Games to prove that WIGAN ATHLETIC are a 'Giant-killing' team or 'Doomed for Relegation'!

Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas’s might have beaten leaders Manchester City last Monday... but if they can't make anything count later tonight, then it's back to the drawing-board.

However it should be an easy outing for the Blues as they play away at Wigan Athletic.

With Roberto Martinez's side languishing in 18th spot this should be a game that might be wrapped up within the first half - Chelsea tend to do that.

For Wigan it's the start of a 'not so favorable' Christmas wish list - they play the Stamford Bridge outfit tonight. Then in midweek they play at home against Liverpool, and on Boxing Day face Manchester United at Old Trafford. (alamak!)

That makes me wonder ~ I don't think they will be opening Xmas presents early at the DW.

It looks like a HO! HO! HO! turn to NO! NO! NO! for the Lancashire outfit.

But anyway, if you're a Wigan fan - GOOD LUCK - I think you'll need it.

Football first and Manchester City's wantaway striker Carlos Tevez says that he is fed up of travelling and that he will not be returning to England because he wants to play for Boca Juniors in January.

So right after The Wanted's performance, my wife and I and my 4-year old daughter Nicole, conveniently zoomed across the street into Vivo City.

Not going to give much away, but it should be called :

'Sherlock Holmes : A Game of Camouflage'

You'll know what i mean, just pay close attention to the start and at the end of the movie.

I have never felt so compelled to see Shelly again since I last saw 'The Sixth Sense" 4 times!!!!

Before heading into the cinema - we were all treated to the costume designs that the main-cast used...

Awesome flick, great effects, and the slow-mo was immaculate!!

Once again the boys of The Wanted were glad the FANS came! Q-ing as early as 12pm... Wow!

The highlight of the day : A 5-star performance by The Wanted beamed via webcast specially to hundreds and hundreds of fans that packed Movida, St James Power Station!

The boys danced, blew kisses and sang four hit singles including the current single "Warzone" from their 'Battleground' CD just for their adoring and screaming fans!

Just like in September 2011 - both me and Charmaine Yee got to experience the energy and dedication of The Wanted fans that came once again! You gals (and the two boys), ROCKED IT!

Dining in tonight at the all-new Nando's at I12 Katong was a great experience!

From the moment me and my wife and kids walked in - we were continually greeted with LOVE and care and we felt right at home.

The service was unbelievable! The FOOD was extra Spicy (for me at least) and it was coupled with a Mango drink - which according to the friendly staff - was the right choice!

But, be it Hot or Extra-Hot, each bite into Nando's Chicken or the Beef I had, was just heavenly...

Also met up with a few awesome 91.3FM listeners including Charlene & Joshua and family as well as Marc of the 91.3FM Street Team!

The restaurant was packed and yet the service was super-efficient, and YES i kept staring at all those bottles on the table - just so I knew which one was gunning for!

HOT, EXTRA-HOT... or Both?

A big thank you to Juleana for being so accommodating! AND I'm definitely gonna bring my entire family back for another round of Peri-Peri Chicken and MORE!

In the end it was PERI-GOOD service all round!

Socrates fell ill during a meal on Thursday and was taken to a Sao Paulo hospital with a suspected case of food poisoning, before being placed in intensive care after it was discovered he had suffered septic shock.

Next in the draw for the FA Cup third round Manchester City have been drawn to play against Manchester United.

Football first and Manchester United were dumped out of the Carling Cup by Crystal Palace at Old Trafford after Darren Ambrose inspired a 2-1 upset after extra-time.

Palace now face Championship rivals Cardiff City in the semi-finals and Manchester City will meet Liverpool in the other tie.

Police stated Speed was found hanged on Sunday morning after committing suicide.

He leaves a wife and two children.

Football first and Liverpool’s Luis Suarez has been charged by the Football Association with racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra during their clash at Anfield in October.
Liverpool have said their Uruguayan striker will deny the charge at a personal hearing and that they remain "fully supportive" of him.

The FA would not confirm the range of sanctions that Suarez could face if he is found guilty but it is believed they could include a ban or fine, or both.

Staying in the Premiership – Guus Hiddink has not ruled out a return to Chelsea following the termination of his contract as Turkey coach by mutual consent.

The Turkish Football Federation had announced that Hiddink had left the role following the national team's failure to reach next summer's European Championship.

Teeing off with Golf - Tiger Woods returns to action in the Australian Open this week down at 58th in the world - just one year after losing the number one spot to Lee Westwood.

The event in Sydney brings together Woods and his former caddie Steve Williams, who admitted that remarks he made about the American on Friday night "could be construed as racist".

Football the way and first up Manchester City have reluctantly accepted the Professional Footballers' Association decision to block Carlos Tevez's four-week fine for breach of contract - but believe the players' union operates under a conflict of interest.

Now without the PFA's sanction a two-week fine is the maximum which can be imposed.

And as City wished to fine Tevez double that amount they had to go to the players' body for approval, but the PFA yesterday insisted that the player was not found guilty of refusing to play and as such only a two-week fine was acceptable.

Back on the pitch and in Italy’s Serie A – Palermo moved up to seventh on the table thanks to a 2-0 win over Lecce which leaves their opponents in the bottom three.

Several of the biggest Premier League clubs want to do away with relegation and promotion in the top flight, according to League Managers' Association chief executive Richard Bevan.

Bevan claimed the American and Asian owners of Premier League sides are keen on a franchising model.
