We’ve got Football news all the way and a late goal from Obafemi Martins after a defensive mix-up saw Birmingham City clinch the Carling Cup away from Arsenal – winning 2-1.

Nikola Zigic headed City in front after 28-minutes but Robin Van Persie equalised for the Gunners 11 minutes later.

In the English Premireship – Liverpool slumped to their 11th defeat of the season when then were beaten 3-1 by relegation-threatened West Ham United at Upton Park.

Elsewhere – at the City of Manchester Stadium – Fulham escaped with a 1-1 draw after going down to a Mario Balotelli strike in the 26th minute.

The draw meant Manchester City miss its chance to close the gap at the top and move closer to second-placed Arsenal.

Elsewhere in Europe – in the Italian Serie A – Inter Milan moved into second spot after a 2-0 away win at Sampdoria; and Udinese improved their goal difference and kept their steady rise to the top with a 7-0 thrashing away at Palermo.

In the La Liga – Valencia managed a 2-1 away win at Athletic Bilbao; and Villarreal were held to a 2-2 draw at Racing Santander.

Back home in the S-League – SAFFC missed it’s chance to go top when they were handed their first defeat of the season by Geylang United at the Bedok Stadium.

Hafiz Rahim and Masrezuan Masturi scored to give the Eagles all 3-points and land themselves in 6th place.

More S-League action this evening as Balestier Khlasa hosts the Courts Young Lions at the Toa Payoh Stadium.

That intriguing tie will kick-off at 7:30pm.

Finally staying at home and in Aquathlon at the Tribob Singapore Sprint Series held at Siloso Beach, Sentosa yesterday – Charlie Quinn from Australia came out tops in the 16-19 category in a time of 29 mins 53 secs and took home the overall male champion award.

The Women’s overall champion went to British national Trudy Fawcett clocking a time of 33 mins 22 secs.

Now the second-leg of the series – a Duathlon – will take place on Sunday 3rd the April.
