We kick-off with Football and in the Premiership leaders Manchester United held onto a goalless draw against Tottenham Hot Spurs at White Hart Lane.

The Red Devils played the reminaing 16 minutes of the game with ten-men as Rafael was sent-off for a second yellow card.

Elsewhere – it was draws all-round as well – as Liverpool and Everton drew 2-all in the 215th Merseyside Derby; Birmingham City and Aston Villa drew 1-all; and Asamoah Gyan rescued Sunderland a point at the death with a 1-all draw against Newcastle United.

In Spain – Barcelona extended their lead at the top of the La-Liga to 4 points with a 4-1 thrashing of Malaga; Real Madrid could only afford a 1-all draw at Almeria; and Valencia scored a 2-0 win over Depotivo La Coruna.

In the Italian Serie A – leaders AC Milan were held to a 1-all draw at Lecce; Juventus defeated Bari 2-1; AS Roma won 1-0 at Cesena; and Udinese scored 4 away again for the second week in a row this time against Genoa beating them 4-2.

In the AFC Asian Cup – hosts Qatar made it through to the quarter-finals of the tounament with a 3-0 win over Kuwait; and Uzbekistan earned the draw they needed to progress – tying 2-2 against China.

More AFC Asian Cup action after midnite tonight – in Group B already elliminated Saudi Arabia take on Japan; and Jordan will battle for a last-eight-spot against Syria.

Finally in Basketball – despite losing their final game in the ABL regular season over the weekend, the Singapore Slingers have made it through into the Playoffs.

The Slingers lost to the Chang Thailand Slammers 65 – 66 in Bangkok and will meet their opponents again in a 3-game playoff starting this Saturday in Bangkok; tip-off at 3pm.
