Football and first-up in the Champions League Round-of-16 first-leg ties – Tottenham Hot Spurs have stunned AC Milan 1-nil at the San Siro.

A Peter Crouch strike 10 minutes from time earned Spurs a crucial away goal to take back to White Hart Lane in 3-week’s time.

Elsewhere – Spanish-side Valenica were held to a 1-all draw by Schalke 04 of Germany.

And in the Europa League – Manchester City drew goalless away in Greece against Aris Thessalonika in their first-leg encounter.

Moving over to the English Premiership and just one tie played overnight – Newcastle United managed a 2-0 away win at Birmingham City.

The win pushes the Magpies up to 9th on the table.

Back home in the S-League – Home United could only afford a 1-all draw at Balestier Khalsa.

Playing at the Toa Payoh Stadium last night – Sufian Anuar opened the accounts for the visitors in the 20th minute – but 8 Lim Young Woo levelled the game 8-minutes later.

More S-League action later this evening when Tanjong Pagar will mark their return to the league when they take on Albirex Niigata away at the Jurong East Stadium.

The match will kick-off at 7:30pm.

Finally in Formula One – Lewis Hamilton has downplayed concerns his relationship with Jenson Button could be severely tested this season.

Despite having two world champions on the payroll in British duo Hamilton and Button, last season proved to be a harmonious one for McLaren.

Many believe this was because the McLaren drivers were not regularly squabbling over race wins, while Button's quest was further undone by his poor qualifying performances.

The new F1 season flags off in under a month in Bahrain.
