The Latics slammed the door shut on Arsenal's faint title hopes as they defeated the Gunners 3-2 at home.
In another tie – Aston Villa leapfrogged Liverpool into sixth-place with a 2-1 away win at Portsmouth.

Finally in Formula One – and in the aftermath of the Chinese Grand Prix – Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel have walked away without any penalties following their incident in Shanghai.
The duo nearly collided in the pit lane after they were released at the same time by the McLaren and Red Bull pit crews.
The stewards decided to investigate the incident post-race and after speaking to both drivers and reviewing video evidence, they decided not to punish them.
Lewis Hamilton came in second in a one-two McLaren finish, 1.5 seconds away from team-mate and winner Jenson Button; Nico Rosberg from Mercedes GP grabbed third.
The next race will be held in northern Barcelona, Spain in 3-weeks time with race day at the Catalunya Circuit on the 9th of May.
