SPORTS 100429

Kicking off with UEFA Champions League Football Semi-final second-leg results – and Inter Milan have disposed of Champions Barcelona despite losing 1-nil on the night.

The Italians who went into the tie 3-1 up from the frist-leg, withstood wave after wave of Barcelona pressure at the Nou Camp – even after going down to 10-men.

And despite Gerrard Pique’s late goal – Jose Mourinho’s men defended well and progressed with a 3-2 aggregate score.

Inter Milan will now take on Bayern Munich in the finals come 22nd May at the Bernabeau in Madrid.

Back home in the S-League – Tampines Rovers have extended their lead at the top of the table to 4-points with a 3-nil win against Sengkang-Punggol.

Playing at the Hougang Stadium – three second-half goals including a brace from Qiu Li saw the Rovers sink the Dolphins and inflict on them a seventh defeat of the season.

Looking ahead tonight – Etoile FC have a chance to narrow that gap at the top back to 1-point when they play against the Young Lions at the Queenstown Stadium.

Elsewhere – Woodlands Wellington will want to get themselves off the bottom-of-the-table when they play away at Beijing Guoan at the Yishun Stadium.

Both ties will kick-off at 7:45pm.

Finally in Golf – organisers of July's Open championship at St Andrews are in no doubt Tiger Woods will be present to try to become the first player ever to win three titles there.

The world number one, triumphant at the Home of Golf by eight shots in 2000 and by five in 2005, returned at The Masters three weeks ago after five months out because of a sex scandal.

Woods will however play again in North Carolina this week and has already committed himself to next week's Players Championship in Florida and June's US Open at Pebble Beach.
