Football first and in the English Premiership – Chelsea took a big step towards the Premier League title as they beat Liverpool 2-0 at Anfield.
Steven Gerrard handed Didier Drogba a goal in the first half and Frank Lampard added the second.
In another tie Manchester United stayed a point behind leaders Chelsea after a 1-nil win over Sunderland.
And elsewhere – Europa League finalist Fulham defeated West Ham 3-2 at Cravern Cottage.
The final weekend of the EPL takes place May 9th where all Chelsea needs to do to clinch their third EPL title is to win their tie against Wigan Athletic.

In Spanish La Liga action – Real Madrid needed a last-gasp winner from Cristiano Ronaldo to seal a 3-2 win over battling Osasuna.
The win keeps Madrid a point behind leaders Barcelona at the top of the league.
In other ties – Seville defeated Atletico Madrid 3-1 at home; and Mallorca won 3-1 away at Athletic Bilbao.

Finally in Basketball and in the NBA Playoffs – The Los Angeles Lakers have taken a 1-to-nothing lead over the Utah Jazz in the Western Conference semi-finals.
Playing at the Staples Centre in LA, The Lakers won Game 1, 104 to 99 against the Jazz.
Game 2 will take place on May 4th in California as well.
