SPORTS 100519

We kick-off with Football – Arsenal look set for a battle to hold onto captain Cesc Fabregas, as Barcelona continue to publicly court the Spanish midfielder.

Fabregas is a key transfer target, along with Valencia striker David Villa.

Both players have been heavily linked with a move this summer, though Arsenal have strenuously denied on several occasions that they are ready to let Fabregas leave the club.

Back home in the S-League – Gyelang United hung onto third place when they were held to a goalless draw against The Young Lions at the Bedok Stadium.

Elsewhere – French outfit Etoile FC managed a 2-nil win over Woodlands Wellington away.

The win for Etoile now places them 4-points away from leaders Tampines Rovers.

Looking ahead this evening – Home United will take on Chinese-side Beijing Guo-an.

That tie will kick-off at 7:30pm at the Jalan Besar Stadium.

Finally in NBA Basketball – in the Eastern Conference Finals – The Boston Celtics have won Game 2- pipping the Orlando Magic 95 to 92 and making it 2-to-nothing on the road so far.

Paul Pierce scored a high of 28-points for Boston.

Game 3 heads to Boston’s TD Garden on the 22nd of May and win for the Celtics at home will surely put them in the driving seat for a place in the NBA Finals.
