Football first and with 24 days left to the FIFA World Cup – Germany’s captain Michael Ballack has been ruled out of the tournament with an ankle injury.
Ballack’s injury was caused by a reckless tackle from Kevin-Prince Boateng in Saturday's FA Cup final victory over Portsmouth.
Boateng is in Ghana's squad for the summer showpiece in South Africa, with Germany drawn in the same group.

Back home in the S-League – SAFFC’s title defence took a sharp turn for the worse yesterday, as Tampines Rovers defeated them 1-nil in their own Warriors Arena.
Aleksandar Duric – once a hero for the Warriors - scored the all-deciding goal four minutes from time.

Looking ahead tonight – Etoile can close the gap at the top when they play away at the Woodland’s Stadium against the Rams;
And Geylang United will want to keep pace with the leaders with a victory at home at the Bedok Stadium when they host the Young Lions.
