With just 3 days left to the FIFA World Cup in South Africa - Gareth Barry has confirmed that he will sit out England's first World Cup match against the United States on Saturday.

The Manchester City midfielder would rather NOT play than risk his injured ankle.

Elsewhere in the Dutch camp – Arjen Robben has vowed he will fight to be fit for the World Cup after his coach refused to call up a replacement for the injured winger.

Robben suffered a tear to his left hamstring after scoring two goals in a 6-1 friendly win over Hungary on Saturday.

And Brazil’s Lucio has revealed his dream of emulating Dunga by lifting Brazil's sixth World Cup on the 11th of July in South Africa.

Dunga, who is now coach of Brazil, captained the Brazilian side that were crowned world champions in 1994, and Lucio is determined to follow in his coach's footsteps.

And staying with Brazil – in their final warm up match – the Samba Kings thrashed Tanzania 5-1 with Robinho and Kaka getting on the scoresheet.

Brazil are drawn alongside North Korea, the Ivory Coast and Portugal in Group G and will kick off their World Cup campaign against North Korea on the 15th of June.

And finally back home in the S-League – Gombak United inflicted Albirex Niigata their 10th defeat of the season by beating them 3-1 at the Jurong West Stadium.

The win pushed the Bulls up into third on the table.

Elsewhere the Young Lions moved into fifth with a 3-nil away win at the Toa Payoh Stadium against Balestier Khlasa.

More S-League action later this evening as Home United will host Woodlands Wellington at the Clementi Stadium;

while Sengkang Punggol will play host to current holders SAFFC at the Hougang Stadium with both the Dolphins and the Warriors needing a win to rescue their season.

Both ties will kick-off at 7:45pm.
