Football first and with just a day away from the Quarter-final stage of the FIFA World Cup in South Africa – Javier Aguirre has announced his resignation as coach of Mexico.
This follows his team's 3-1 defeat to Argentina that prevented them from reaching the quarter-finals.
Elsewhere - Jose Mourinho has defended Cristiano Ronaldo after watching his countrymen exit the World Cup at the hands of Spain.
Portugual captain Ronaldo was isolated for long periods as Portugal played a defensive game and Spain eventually won 1-nil.

Back home in the S-League – Etoile FC have opened up a 6-point lead at the top when they manage to beat SAFFC 3-2 at the Jalan Besar Satdium last night.
Frederic Mendy, Kevin Yann and Matthias Verschave were on the scorer’s list for Etoile, while Park Tae Won and Ahmad Latiff were on target for the Warriors.
More S-League action tonight as Balestier Khalsa take on Home United at the Toa Payoh Staidum;
and over at the Jurong West Stadium – Gombak United will host Woodlands Wellington.
Both ties are schedule to kick-off at 7:30pm.

Finally in Tennis and in Wimbledon – Roger Federer has crashed out of the tournament when he was beaten by world number 13 Tomas Berdych 6-4 3-6 6-1 6-4.
The six-time champion made his earliest exit from Wimbledon for eight years but vowed to come back stronger and hungrier than ever.
Tomas Berdych will now play Novak Djokovic in his first Wimbledon semi-final.
In another quarter-final tie – Rafael Nadal bounced back from losing the first five games against Robin Soderling to win in four sets : 3-6 6-3 7-6 6-1.
Nadal moves on to the semis and will face Andy Murray who defeated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga also in four sets : 6-7 7-6 6-2 6-2.
