Football and Mark Hughes has opened talks to become the new manager of Fulham.

The former Manchester City boss had previously turned Fulham down, but things have moved on significantly.

Elsewhere in transfer news Chelsea have confirmed that boss Carlo Ancelotti will be handed more transfer funds.

This if the Italian coach asks for them and also moved to quash rumours over Didier Drogba's future.

And in a friendly just before the EPL curtain raiser on August 8th – Manchester United thrashed the U.S.’ Major League All-Stars 5-2 in a game played at the Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas.

Federico Mecheda opened the scoring for the Red Devils with a brace within the first 11-minutes; the game also saw Darron Gibson, Tom Cleverley and new-signing Javier Hernandez on the scorer’s sheet.

Back home in the S-League – Tampines Rovers made it back to the top of the league with a 2-nil win over Gombak United.

Playing at the Jalan Besar Stadium last night – Imran Sahib and Benoit Croissant scored on either-side of the half to give the Rovers all 3-points.

Looking ahead tonight – Home United will want top keep pace with the leaders when they host the Young Lions at the Clementi Stadium.

That tie will kick-off at 7:45pm.

Finally in Athletics – Usain Bolt will race against Asafa Powell and Tyson Gay in the 100 metres at the DN Galan Diamond League in Stockholm on August 6.

Bolt's decision to join the field in Stockholm means the meeting will mark the trio's first head-to-head since last year's 100m final at the World Championships in Berlin.

And it was there in Germany where Bolt added the World title to his Olympic gold as he broke the world record in style.
