Tennis first and in the US Open – due to the continued uncertainty of the weather forecast the Men’s singles finals between Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic has been pushed to later tonight.
The Women’s Doubles finals has also been delayed to the bad weather.
However over the weekend – in Women’s action Belgian Kim Clijsters captured her third US Open title – flawlessly crushing her Russian opponent Vera Zvonareva 6-2, 6-1.
Clijsters now holds three Grand Slam tournament titles - all at the US Open - with the 2005 title her breakthrough victory after finishing as the runner-up in four previous majors.

Football and in the English Premiership and in the aftermath of goaless draw bewteen Birmingham City and Liverpool – Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson has praised Birmingham and was also not too disappointed with his own players.
Meanwhile, Birmingham midfielder Barry Ferguson believes Liverpool goalkeeper Jose Reina was all that stood between the Blues and three points on Sunday.
With the draw Birmingham City moves up to 5th in the table whilst Liverpool remains in 13th position.

Finally in Formula One – Fernando Alonso won his first Italian Grand Prix for Ferrari from Jenson Button and team-mate Felipe Massa after taking the lead in the pit stops.
It was a disastrous day for Lewis Hamilton in the other McLaren, who jumped to fourth as Mark Webber’s Red Bull again started slowly.
However at the second chicane Massa’s left rear wheel came into contact with Hamilton’s front right, leaving the McLaren driver in the gravel and his day done.
The next race takes place in 2-weeks time here in Singapore at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
