We serve with Tennis first and in the US Open Men’s finals in Flushing Meadows in New York – Rafael Nadal has beaten Novak Djokovic despite dropping a set.


The Spainish player defeated his opponent from Serbia 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2.

Nadal now becomes the 7th man to win each of tennis’ 4 major Grand Slams.

In Football and in the only EPL tie played overnight – Stoke City stunned Aston Villa 2-1 at the Brtiannia Stadium.

Stoke scored both their late goals from Kenwyne Jones and Robert Huth after the Villians took a first-half lead through Stewart Downing.

Stoke City’s boss Tony Pulis appeared for the second half after missing the first following the death of his mother and that inspired his team to eventually win the tie.

Back home in the S-League – the title challenge resumes this evening with Home United once again given the chance to go top but only if they can beat Geylang United.

That tie is scheduled to kick-off at 7:30pm at the Clementi Stadium.

And finally staying at home in Basketball – The Singapore Slingers defeated the Philippines’ Meralco Bolts for their second consecutive victory in their pre-season preparations for the ASEAN Basketball League last night.

Playing at the Singapore Indoor Stadium – The Slingers ended the match with four unanswered points to close out the match 77-64.

Slingers head-coach Neo Beng Siang echoed his general manager’s sentiments, that it will get tougher and tougher and the Slingers will have to keep stepping up.

The Singapore Slingers will take on another Filipino side in Air 21 Express this Sunday, September 19th at 4pm at the same venue.

It will be the final friendly for the Slingers before they embark on their second ABL season on October 3rd.
