We kick-off with Football and the Champions League Group stage – Manchester United have started their campaign in Group C with a goalless draw against Scotland’s Glasgow Rangers.
However Sir Alex Ferguson’s side ended up losing Antonio Valencia in a horrific injury that may spell the end of his season.
Also in Group C – Valancia of Spain managed a 4-0 away win against Turkey’s Bursaspor.
In Group A – Tottenham Hot Spurs squandered a 2-0 lead only to end up drawing 2-all away at Weder Bremen; and it was also a 2-all scoreline between current holders Inter Milan and Holland’s FC Twente.
Elsewhere in Group D – Barcelona hammered Greek-side Panathinaikos 5-1 – Lionel Messi netting a brace; and in Denmark Copenhagen defeated Russia’s Rubin Kazan 1-0.
And in Group B – Lyon of France overcame Schalke 04 of Germany 1-0; whilst Portugal’s Benfica grabbed all 3-points with a 2-0 win over Hapoel Tel Aviv of Isreal.

Back home in the S-League last night – Home United went top of the league with a crucial 1-0 home over Geylang United.
Playing at the Clementi Stadium last night – Chua Jae Woon’s 18th minute goal was enough to give the Protectors all 3-points and point them a-point clear of rivals Etoile FC at the top but having played a game more.
And more action tonight – when Albirex Niigata take on Sengkang-Punggol at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
That tie will kick-off at 7:30pm.

Finally in Formula One – BMW Sauber have announced that Nick Heidfeld is to replace Pedro de la Rosa at the team for the remainder of this season.
de la Rosa who has had a torrid season so far had his contract stalled and said that he was surprised by the decision by his team but respected it.
Heidfeld will now race alongside Kamui Kobayashi at the final five Grands Prixs of the year including the Singapore Grand Prix which will begin in under 10 days time.
