And in Spain’s Copa del Rey – Atletico Madrid are virtually through to the next stage of the competition when they hammered Universidad 5-0 in their Round-of-32 first-leg tie;
In other first-leg ties – second-division side Cordoba upset La Liga-side Racing Santander 2-0; and there were easy away wins for Valencia, Sevilla and Espanyol.

Back home in the Singapore Cup – Tampines Rovers put one foot forward into the finals with a 2-0 win over the Young Lions last night at the Tampines Stadium.
The return-leg will take place at the Jalan Besar Stadium this Saturday.

Finally in Golf – Thongchai Jaidee believes the inaugural CIMB Asia Pacific Classic in Malaysia will help Asian stars broaden their horizons.
The decorated Thai, holder of an unprecedented three Order of Merit titles, will spearhead a strong Asian Tour line-up – competing against the likes of Major champions Ernie Els and Retief Goosen of South Africa, Australian Robert Allenby and Luke Donald of England, ranked eighth in the world.
The US$6 million-dollar event starts today at the Mines Resort and Golf Club in Selangor.
