Football and in the on-going saga of the sale of Premiership-side Liverpool chairman Martin Broughton has revealed that there will be cash for new players in January.

Broughton also added that there is a commitment to build a new stadium as they head to the High Court tomorrow to force through the New England Sports Venture takeover.

In ra elated development – according to Major League Soccer commission Don Garber – Liverpool would be in good hands if Boston Red Sox owner John W Henry succeeds in his takeover bid.

Garber said that if you were a sports fan in the USA, and if you picked two or three of the most revered and successful clubs in the nation's sporting history – the Red Sox would be one of them.

Back home in the S-League last night – Gombak United scored three second-half goals against Woodlands Wellington to come away 3-0 winners at the Jalan Besar Stadium.

Chang Jo Yoon, Fazrul Nawaz and Hamqaamal Shah were on target for the Bulls who now move ahead of SAFFC and Geylang United into fourth-place.

More S-League action tonight as SAFFC will hope to win tonight’s encounter against the Young Lions as the battle for fourth-place continues.

The tie will kick-off at 7:45pm at the Choa Chu Kang Satdium.

Finally in a Commonwealth Games update – Singapore shooters have added to the Republic’s medal count again.

Gai Bin shot 649.6 points to bag the silver in the men's individual 50m pistol final, while Nigel Lim managed 644.7 for the bronze.

Singapore's medal haul so far stands at two golds, one silver and one bronze - all coming from shooting.

Now at the top of the table Australia still lead with 21 gold, 15 silver and 10 bronze; India are in second will 11 gold, 8 silver and 5 bronze; and England are in third place with 6 gold, 11 silver and 9 bronze.
