Football first and in news off the pitch – AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso has been banned for four matches for his "assault" on Tottenham coach Joe Jordan.

The Milan vice captain twice clashed with Jordan during his sides' Champions League last-16 first leg at the San Siro last Tuesday - which Tottenham won 1-0.

Back on the pitch in 5th-Round FA Cup ties – West Ham have stormed into the quarter-finals with a 5-1 thrashing of Burnley.

The Hammers will next face Stoke City away at the Britnannia Stadium on the weekend of the 12 and 13th of March.

Elsewhere in La-Liga action Real Sociedad defeated Mallorca 1-0 overnight.

The win pushed Sociedad up to 8th on the table and kept their hopes for a European spot alive.

Back home in the S-League – Albirex Niigata kept that 100% start to the season with their second win in as many games.

The Japanese outfit managed a 1-0 away win at Woodlands Wellington.

More S-League action this evening as Tampines Rovers host a much-improved Hougang.

The tie will be played at the Tampines Stadium and will kick-off at 7:30pm.

Finally in Formula One – the season-opening race in Bahrain scheduled between March 11th to 13th has been officially called off in the wake of the recent civil unrest in the country.

However no decision has been made on a new date for the potential rescheduling of the race.

It now means the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on March 27 will play host to the first round of the 2011 season.
