We start with Champions League Football and Chelsea have defeated Denmark’s FC Copenhagen 2-0 away in their first-leg Round of 16 tie.

Two goals from Nicolas Anelka on either side of the half gave the Blues a huge advantage going into the second leg at Stamford Bridge on the 16th of March.

In the night’s other game Karim Benzema gave Real Madrid a crucial away goal in his side’s 1-1 draw with Lyon of France.

In the English Premireship – Blackpool have stunned Tottenham Hot Spurs 3-1 at Bloomfield Road.

Back home in the S-League – Tampines Rovers scored an impressive 5-2 win over Hougang last night at the Tampines Stadium.

Aleksander Duric got a brace that saw the Stags climb up to second on the table.

This evening more S-League action as 8-time champions SAFFC take on Tanjong Pagar at the Choa Chu Kang Stadium.

The game wil begin at 7:30pm but there will be lots of pre-game activities and fun for early goers to the match at the Warrirors Arena.

Finally in Motor-racing – Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone believes postponing the Bahrain GP was the only way forward for fear of potential trouble.

In the wake of the political upheaval in the Gulf kingdom that led to the deaths of six anti-government protesters last week and many hundreds injured, human rights activists had threatened to target the race to further their cause.

And with the postponment of the race – it’s only natural that the final test scheduled for Bahrain from March 3rd-6th has been cancelled and will now take place in Barcelona from March 8-11.
