Elsewhere in Group B – holders Atletico Madrid were knocked out after drawing 1-all in Bayer Leverkusen; and in Group H table toppers Vfb Stuggart finished their group-stage in style hammering Odense BK of Denmark 5-1.

In the AFF Suzuki Cup – a Cristian Gonzales goal gave Indonesia a 1-0 win in their first-leg semi-final clash last night at the Gelora Bung Korno Stadium in Jakarta.
Playing in front of 70,000 fans – a 31st minute goal from Gonzales ensured Indonesia hold the advantage going into the second-leg to be played this Sunday at the same venue.

Finally in Formula One – Lotus Racing team principal Tony Fernandes has called for common sense to prevail after facing a barrage of criticism.
Following Group Lotus' announcement of a seven-year, multi-million pound sponsorship deal with Renault, a war of words has ensued over the brand name of Lotus.
With Fernandes re-naming his outfit Team Lotus for next season, the Malaysian entrepreneur has since come under fire from Group Lotus CEO Dany Bahar, Renault owner Gerard Lopez and team principal Eric Boullier.
