SPORTS 100805

We kick-off with Football and England coach Fabio Capello will consider 32 players for his new squad with young Arsenal duo Jack Wilshere and Kieran Gibbs tipped for a call-up.

Back on the pitch and in pre-season friendlies last night – English Champions Chelsea were beaten 2-1 by Germany’s Hamburg despite taking the lead; and elsewhere Manchester City also lost to German opposition going down 3-1 to Borussia Dortmund at the Westfalenstadion.

And in a Champions League qualifier – Celtic have failed to advance, losing 4-2 to Portuguese side Braga on aggregate.

Back home in the S-League – Gombak United were held to a goalless draw against Sengkang Punggol last night.

Playing at the Jalan Besar Stadium – the draw meant the Bulls stay ahead of their opponents by 1-point on the table.

More S-League action this evening as Etoile FC will hope to close the gap at the top when they host Woodlands Wellington at the Queenstown Stadium.

The French-outfit are currently 4 points adrift from leaders Tampines Rovers and a win will place them a point away.

The tie will start at 7:45pm.

Finally in Golf – The WGC-Bridgestone Invitational starts in Akron, Ohio today and all eyes will be on World Number 1 – Tiger Woods.

Last year Woods became the first player in American or European Tour history to win seven times on the same lay-out.

However Woods is playing in his eighth tournament of a season abbreviated by his admissions of infidelity after a Thanksgiving night automobile accident and subsequent stint in rehab and still without a win.

Tiger Woods will be tee’ing off alongside Lee Westwood, a man who may take away his crown at the top of the World rankings after this weeeknd.
