Football first and New signing Joe Cole enjoyed a promising debut as Liverpool coasted through the second leg of their Europa League third qualifying round tie.

The Reds beat Macedonia’s Rabotnicki with a 2-nil win on the night at Anfield.

A goal from David N’gog and a Steven Gerrard penalty were enough to give Liverpool a 4-nil aggregate victory.

Back home in the S-League – Etoile FC closed the gap at the top when they managed a 2-nil win over Woodlands Wellington.

Playing at the Queenstown Stadium last night – Karim Boudjema and Anthony Moulin were on target for the home side who are now a point away from leaders Tampines Rovers.

More S-League action this evening when SAFFC take on Balestier Khalsa.

The Warriors will hope end their miserable run in the league at the Jalan Besar Stadium where kick-off will be at 7:30pm.

Finally in Golf – at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational in Akron, Ohio – Tiger Woods got off to a rocky start posting a 4 over 74.

Facing the two easiest holes to start his round, he hit tee shots into the trees and made bogeys on the course where he has won seven times in his last nine appearances.

Woods’ score of 74 – places him 10 shots behind leader Bubba Watson, the largest first-round deficit Woods has faced since he returned at the Masters.
