We start with Football and Martin O'Neill has resigned as manager of Aston Villa just five days before the start of the new season.
O'Neill was close to leaving Villa at the end of last season but opted to stay after talks with owner Randy Lerner.
It is thought that the impending sale of James Milner angered O'Neill.
Elsewhere in the on-going saga of the sale of Liverpool – the Reds are hoping that in the next week they can discover the full facts about the five different investment groups battling for control of the financially troubled club.
Sources say that none of the groups interested in purchasing the club have so far provided proof of funds.

Swinging to Golf – Tiger Woods is scheduled to meet Ryder Cup captain Corey Pavin at the US PGA Championship this week.
And unless there is a dramatic improvement at Whistling Straits it really does look open to doubt whether Woods will be at Celtic Manor in October.
And despite all the bad rounds of golf – it has not cost him the world number one spot.

Finally in Formula One – Ralf Schumacher has come to Michael's defence following a backlash against his brother for his move on Rubens Barrichello in Hungary.
Schumacher was slapped with a 10-grid slot penalty for the next race in Belgium after the Hungarian stewards deemed him to have 'illegitimately impeded' Barrichello in a manoeuvre that almost put the Williams driver into the wall.
The Belgium Grand Prix takes place in the final weekend of this month.
