Football and Javier Mascherano has vowed to reveal the "lies" about his transfer to Barcelona in due course, hinting that Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson "knows the truth".
Hodgson called Mascherano "selfish" when he didn't play in Liverpool’s 3-0 loss to Manchester City last week.

Back home in the S-League last night – Gombak United celebrated a 2-1 win over Albirex Niigata at the Jurong East Stadium; and over at the Jalan Besar Stadium The Young Lions were beaten 2-0 by Balestier Khalsa.
More S-League action tonight at Etoile FC will take on Geylang United at the Queenstown Stadium; and bottom-place Woodlands will host Home United.
Both these fixtures will kick-off at 7:45pm.

Finally in Tennis in the US Open in New York – Australia’s Leyton Hewitt suffered a shock first-round exit to unseeded Frenchman Paul Henri Mathieu.
The 32nd seed Hewitt came back from 2 sets down to tie at 2-all but lost eventually lost
3-6, 4-6, 7-5, 6-4, 1-6.
Elsewhere is was a comfortable win for Roger Fedderer who easily defeated his Argentine opponent Brian Dabul 6-1, 6-4, 6-2; and sixth seed Nikolay Davydenko beat American Michael Russell 6-4 6-1 6-3 to set up a second round clash with France's Richard Gasquet.
In Women’s action – 3rd seed Venus Williams easily disposed off Italian Roberta Vinci 6-4, 6-1.
In another tie Belgian Kim Clijsters charged through the opening set and made a remarkable comeback in the second set against Greta Arn of Hungary to complete a 6-0 7-5 win.
