We serve up with Tennis first and in the US Open – in men’s action – Andy Roddick has been knocked out of the tournament by unseeded Serbian Janko Tipsarevic.


The ninth seed Roddick who started well in the first set – eventually crashed in the next three sets and lost 6-3, 5-7, 3-6, 6-7.

Elsewhere Andy Murray barreled through his Slovakian opponent Lukas Lacko 6-3, 6-2, 6-2.

Murray seeded fouth will next face Jamaica’s Dustin Brown.

In women’s action – Canadian qualifier Rebecca Marino pushed Venus Williams to a first set tiebreak but ultimately couldn't contend with the former champion's power.

Venus who is seeded number 3 prevailed 7-6, 6-3 and improved her hard-court record to 56-9.

Next in Football – Tottenham Hotspur striker Peter Crouch has withdrawn from the England squad with a back injury.

Crouch will miss the Euro 2012 qualifiers against Bulgaria played tomorrow and against Switzerland next week.

Back home in S-League last night – Tampines Rovers went straight back to the top of the league with a 5-2 win over Beijing Guoan.

Aleksandar Duric scored twice in a result that sees the Rovers a point ahead of Etoile FC.

Later this evening – SAFFC will play against Sengkang-Punggol at the Choa Chu Kang Stadium.

The Warriors who have had a dismal season so far will hope to get themselves back on track with a win at home.

That tie kicks-off at 7:45pm.
