SPORTS 101019

Kickin-off with Football – Blackburn Rovers had captain Chris Samba sent off on the stroke of half time in their Premier League clash with Sunderland but battled to 0-0 draw at a rain-swept Ewood Park.

The draw left Sunderland and the Rovers tied with 9 points at 13th and 14th place in the league respectively.

Off the pitch – and in the on-going saga of Wayne Rooney – Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho believes he will stay at Manchester United despite talk of the striker swapping Old Trafford for the Bernabeu.

But in a new development – Wayne Rooney is contemplating a move to hated rivals Manchester City!

The England star has been the subject of transfer rumours recently after reports revealed that he had not signed a deal to extend his current contract at Old Trafford yet.

Back home in the S-League – Gombak United rescued a point when they entertained the Young Lions last night.

Luka Savic scored in the 21st minute to put the visitors in the lead at the Jurong West Stadium – but Fabian Tan equalised 12 minutes from time to tie the score at 1-apiece.

More S-League action tonight as Beijing Guoan will take on Albirex Niigata at the Yishun Stadium.

That tie will kick-off at 7:45pm.

And finally in motor-racing – Mark Webber has no intention of easing off his intense focus on winning ahead of the inaugural Korean Grand Prix.

The 34-year-old Red Bull driver, who finished second behind title rival and team-mate German Sebastian Vettel at last Sunday's Japanese Grand Prix, has kept a low profile since that success.

But he knows that despite increasing his Championship lead to 14 points ahead of Vettel, and two-times Champion Spaniard Fernando Alonso of Ferrari, it is too early - with three races remaining - to play a percentage game.
