Kicking off with Football and in Champions League Matchday 5 results – in Group C – Manchester United secured their path into the next round with a 1-0 win at Ibrox against Rangers.

Wayne Rooney scored the only goal of the game through an 87th minute penalty that sees United hang at the top of their group – a point ahead of Spain’s Valenica.

Valencia on the other hand hammered Bursaspor of Turkey 6-1 to set up fight for top spot against United on the 8th of Decmeber.

In action elsewhere – Group A leaders Tottenham Hot Spurs also made it into the round-of-16 with a convincing 3-0 win over Germany’s Werder Bremen; and also making it through were Inter Milan who beat FC Twente 1-0.

In Group B – Bundesliga-side Shalke04 beat group leaders Lyon of France 3-0 to move ahead of them in the standings; and Israel’s Hapoel Tel Aviv stunned Benfica of Portugal 3-0 as well.

And over in Group D – Barcelona sealed their place in the last 16 with a 3-0 win away at Panathinaikos; and Russia’s Rubin Kazan kept their slim hopes of qualifying alive with a 1-0 win at home against FC Copenhagen.

And finally in an Asian Games update in Guangzhou, China - Singapore’s Cherie Tan clinched another Silver for the Republic in the Women’s Masters Bolwling event.

In a two game roll-off – Cherie eventually went down by an aggregate score of 472-482 to South Korea’s Hwang Sun-Ok.

Team Singapore conclude their Bolwing competition at the games capturing a Gold, 3 Silver and a Bronze.

And looking at the Medal Tally after almost 2 weeks of competition – China leads the pack with 173 Gold, 93 Silver and 86 Bronze;

South Korea are next with 71 Gold, 59 Silver and 81 Bronze;

Japan lie in third with 36 Gold, 66 Silver and 74 Bronze;

and Singapore is in 14th place with 4 Gold, 7 Silver and 6 Bronze.
