Football and in the English Premiership – Sunderland managed a slender 1-0 win over West Ham United at the Stadium of Light.
A Jordan Handerson goal in the 34th minute ensured the Black Cats jump to seventh in the league.
In an earlier tie – West Bromwich Albion defeated Newcastle United 3-1 at the Hawthorns to move up to 8th place.

Elsewhere in Europe – third-placed Juventus kept the pressure on in Serie A as they won 3-1 at Catania; and Sampdoria defeated Bari 3-0 to move up to seventh – one place behind Champions Inter.
In Spain’s La Liga – Villarreal pulled off a 1-0 win over Sevilla; and Real Sociedad climbed up to 6th with 2-0 win at home against Atletico Bilbao.

Staying closer to home – in the AFF Suzuki Cup – Singapore managed a 2-1 win against Myanmar with a last gasp goal from Agu Casmir.
Myanmar opened the scoring in the 13th minute from Khin Muang – but two second-half strikes from the Lions gave Singapore a much needed win and eliminate their opponents from the competition.
In the night’s other Group B match at the My Dinh Stadium in Hanoi – co-hosts Vietnam were stunned by the Philippines 2-0.
The loss meant Vietnam has beat Singapore this Wednesday to qualify for the semis; and the Philippines has to overcome Myanmar to make it into the last four.

Moving over to Golf – Tiger Woods' hopes of ending his title drought ended in a playoff as Graeme McDowell stormed back to win the Chevron World Challenge.
Woods, suffered his first bad round of the tournament giving McDowell his chance to force a playoff.
Tiger Woods is still without a title since he won the Australian Masters a year ago.

Finally in Basketbal – in ABL the Singapore Slingers slumped to their 5th defeat of the season when they lost away in Bangkok 77 to 66 against leaders The Thailand Chang Slammers.
Jason Dixon once again proved his value for Thailand by providing 22 points and 15 rebounds and stretching the Slammers wins to 5-in-a-row; whilst Marcus Skinner netted 24 points and 9 rebounds for the Slingers.
The Slingers next play against Satri Muda BritAma of Indonesia on Tuesday, 14th December at the Singapore Indoor Stadium – tip-off is at 8pm.
